Patrizia Birchler Emery works as pedagogical advisor in the Programmes, Pedagogy & Partnerships Department of the CCDE. Specialised in e-learning, she advises and supports programme managers and teams in the process of creating and modifying programmes, including their digital transformation. She is a member of the UNIGE's Commission for Pedagogical Innovation and of the editorial board of the UNIGE's Ciel blog (Communauté d'intérêt pour l'enseignement en ligne). She is actively involved in researching and adopting new techno-pedagogical tools for distance and online programmes, as well as in projects aimed at developing the digital skills of programme teams. She has been working at the Centre for Continuing and Distance Education since 2013.

Patrizia Birchler Emery holds a PhD in Classical Archaeology and works in parallel for the Department of Classics and for the Chair of Digital Humanities of the Faculty of Arts. She has worked to set up online continuing education courses in the field of archaeology and cultural heritage law, as well as a MOOC on the archaeology of Late Antiquity. Patrizia Birchler Emery is a lecturer in classical archaeology in bachelor, master and continuing education programmes, both face to face and online, and at the Senior University. She is involved in several field research projects in Cyprus and Greece, as well as in the realisation of exhibitions in the University's Plaster Cast Collection.
