Institute of Economics and Econometrics

The Institute of Economics and Econometrics leads teaching and research in economics and econometrics within the Geneva School of Economics and Management. A long tradition of economics at the University of Geneva dates to the early 1900s when the first Chair of Economics was established. In 1965, we saw the first Chair in Econometrics.

The Institute builds on this legacy leading with an internationally recognized faculty in labor economics, development and environmental economics, international economics and trade, urban economics, and econometrics. The Institute provides students with the opportunity to learn state of the art methods and approaches to solve real-world problems.

Our faculty publishes in top economic journals including the American Economic Review, EconometricaJournal of Political Economy, The Review of Economic StudiesThe Economic Journal, and Journal of the European Economic Association. As well as in top-field journals including American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Journal of Economic Geography, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Journal of Labour Economics, and Journal of International Economics.
