The Platform and UNITAR launch an e-Learning Course on International Water Law
UNITAR and University of Geneva have joined their respective expertise, with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), to develop and launch a new course on International Water Law that is now open for applications. The e-learning course is a pioneering project and there are already many candidacies. The e-learning course aims to provide professionals involved in negotiating or implementing treaties related to freshwater resources with an advanced knowledge of the principles and norms that govern the use, sharing, management and protection of these resources.
Mara Tignino, senior researcher at the Platform, is the faculty member responsible of the course. The design of the course allows participants to actively interact with their peers and the moderator. Guided discussion forums are organized on selected topics to promote experience and knowledge-sharing. Participants also have opportunity to work with practical examples, analyse case studies and conduct short research assignments.
The course will be delivered over 4 weeks from 1 February to 4 March 2013 through UNITAR's Virtual Learning Environment. To apply for the course, candidates must have a background in Law, political science, economics or international relations. Interested candidates can apply at: http://www.unitar.org/event/international-water-law. The application deadline is 17 December 2012.
