Second edition of the online training course "International Water Law"

The second edition of the online course in "International Water Law", organized in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), is delivered over five weeks from 14 September to 22 October 2015.

The course aims to provide professionals working in the negotiation or implementation of treaties relating to freshwater resources, a thorough knowledge of the principles and norms governing the use, sharing, management and protection of these exhaustible natural resources. This course enables participants to create, interpret and implement legal frameworks for effective protection and management of transboundary waters.

The course contains five modules covering the principles and sources of international law (optional module), international regulation on transboundary water resources, the principles of international water law and its relationship with international environmental law, human rights law, international humanitarian law and international economic law.

Mara Tignino, Senior Lecturer and Coordinator of the Platform for International Water Law, is the faculty member responsible of the course.
