The Platform at the 7th World Water Forum in South Korea

Mara Tignino is invited to intervene in the 7th World Water Forum which takes place in Daegu and Gyeongbuk in South Korea between 12 and 17 April 2015.

On 13 April, she intervenes in the first Water Business Forum with a presentation on the activities of the Platform. On 15 April, she intervenes in the session « Water Justices and Cooperation: perspectives and frameworks for fostering cultural diversity and nature » organised by the Hydrological Programme of UNESCO with a presentation on “Participation and Water Rights: the Contribution of Legal Frameworks to the Protection of Individual and Collective Rights ». On 15 April, she also participates as a moderator in the session « International Water Law Demystified » organised by the United Economic Commission for Europe, Green Cross International, IUCN and WWF. On 16 April, she participates in the « Indigenous Peoples Platform » with a presentation on human rights and indigenous peoples.

Green Cross International has been awarded the WWF's Leaders for a Living Planet in recognition of the organisation’s role in bringing the UN Convention on the Law of the Non-Navigational Uses of International Watercourses into force.

Platform members have participated as experts to support the ratification of the UN Watercourses Convention. Makane Mbengue was invited as an expert to advise riparian States of the Senegal River and the Lake Chad Basin to support ratification of the UN Watercourses Convention. Mara Tignino participated as an expert in a Panel on the UN Watercourses Convention during the Stockholm World Water Week in 2010.
