During the last decades, international law has experienced major developments in order to take into account the multifaceted nature of freshwater management and protection. Adopting universal, regional and river-basin tools stresses the importance of studying the evolution of international regulations concerning water and identifying the main principles in this area. Therefore, this course aims at providing the foundations required to understand and examine the regulation that applies to transboundary freshwater, especially to rivers, lakes and aquifers; It presents the principles and legal standards governing the use, the sharing, the management and protection of these resources. The MOOC is composed of 5 modules that can be visualized in any order since they each address a different theme. However, the order of the modules follows a defined educational logic and helps understand the MOOC for people who are not familiar with the topic. An evaluation quiz accompanies each module. The MOOC will follow a unique path resulting in a certificate for the learners with an average of over 80% on the quizzes.

This MOOC is in French with subtitles in English.
