In May 2021, Professors Gabriel Eckstein and James Salzman co-edited the Volume 115 of the American Journal of International Law (AJIL) Unbound which includes a number of essays under the banner “Symposium on Interstate Disputes over Water Rights.”

These essays are open access articles and are available here

One of the essays, written by Dr Salman M.A. Salman, is titled “Equitable and Reasonable Utilization and the Obligation Against Causing Significant Harm – Are they Reconcilable?” At the suggestion of some colleagues, the essay is being republished in a booklet in the original English format of the AJIL, and is also being published in French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Arabic languages.

The Platform for International Water Law has the pleasure to publish this booklet containing the essay written by Dr Salman M. A. Salman translated in five languages. We hope that this booklet will reach a wide audience of lawyers, technical and scientific experts and will contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between these two fundamental principles of international water law.

An essay on “Prior notification and water rights” written by Dr Mara Tignino is also included in the AJIL Unbound.
