Institutional agreements

Why?

An institutional collaboration agreement (outside of the European ERASMUS/SEMP system) generally provides a framework for student and/or staff exchanges with a partner institution, research collaborations and other collaborations. Generally speaking, UNIGE does not sign collaboration agreements for isolated or short-term activities as such agreements are based on existing academic relationships and solid, longer-term perspectives with the partner institution.

How?

Members of the UNIGE academic community who wish to establish an agreement can contact the International Affairs Office. They will be asked to provide a brief summary of the reasons for establishing the agreement and an overview of existing collaborations and mid-term perspectives. All applications must be backed by the relevant deanship (for a faculty agreement) and/or the rectorate.

The International Affairs Office provides agreement templates in French and English, pre-approved by the University's legal service, which simplifies the procedure considerably. Agreements must respect UNIGE's signature guidelines; the signature process is coordinated by the International Affairs Office, which also keeps the original document on file once it is signed.

The International Affairs Office also assesses collaboration proposals from other institutions in so far as they are based on existing academic exchanges or concrete perspectives for future collaboration. The initiatives currently in place in specific regions can be found under Research and coordination.
