Strategic partnerships

Since 2011, UNIGE has been developing strategic partnerships in order to focus on its international collaboration efforts.

Our strategic partnerships aim at reinforcing and deepening the University's relationships with a selected group of partner universities, while remaining open to collaboration with other institutions. These relationships generate a larger volume of collaborative activities, facilitating the emergence and development of synergies.

UNIGE's strategic partnerships are selected based on the following general criteria:

  • Comprehensive universities
  • Comparable reputation to UNIGE
  • Pre-existing formal or informal collaborations in several areas
  • Strategic nature of the partnership for both institutions
  • Geographic distribution

These partnerships foster developments in several domains, such as coordinated training programmes (including distance learning), joint research, and pooling of resources towards grants and scholarships.

A key objective of UNIGE's strategic partnerships is to highlight and develop pre-existing informal collaborations between the institutions; we would therefore be grateful if members of the UNIGE academic community could inform the International Affairs Office of any ongoing activities with these universities in particular.

Calls for projects

Collaborative activities with UNIGE's strategic partners are supported by calls for joint seed funding projects. See the schedule of forthcoming calls opposite.
