What is Horizon académique ?
The Horizon académique program is a bridging initiative designed to prepare students for university studies. Its goal is to support the resumption of higher education at one of Geneva’s institutions: the University of Geneva (UNIGE), the University of Applied Sciences (HES-SO), or the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID). Through the program, participants can attend courses and take exams that may later be recognized upon admission, allowing them to “save time” and get a head start in their studies. The program is offered in partnership with the Geneva Office for Integration and Citizenship (BIC) and is supported by several private foundations.
Who is it for ?
The program helps immigrants improve their professional prospects, specifically asylum seekers and refugees (with S, N, F, F or B-refugee permits), persons holding a permit for family reunification (B permit). It is also meant for Swiss nationals who have returned from living abroad.
What are the activities?
The four pillars of our programme are:
- Personal guidance to plan your studies and career
- Access to university courses
- Language and integration classes
- The Horizon académique community
