Short Bio

Zihan Li is from Jinzhou city, China. He graduated from Northeastern University in 2017 with Bachelor degree while his undergraduate research was focused on synthesizing MOFs materials by spray methods under the supervision of Prof. Yu Fu and Prof. Yunong Li. There he was starting to work with synthetic complexes. After graduation, he came to Xi’an Jiaotong University and joined the group of Prof. Yanzhen Zheng as a Ph.D student. At Xi’an Jiaotong University, his major was on synthesizing single molecular magnet (a kind of crystalline materials consisted of metal ions and organic ligands) with pentagonal/hexagonal bipyramidal geometry configuration. In 2019, he synthesized one dysprosium(III) based complex with D6h local symmetry, possessing effective energy barrier over 1000 K and setting a new world record in the field at that time. During his Ph.D, he showed his keen interest in crystal and learned various techniques to grow crystals and solve the structures. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2022 and then worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology. In 2023, he was fortunate enough to be granted scholarship in the “Young Scholars Project”. In spring of 2024, he joined the group of Prof. Takuji Adachi at the University of Geneva as a postdoctoral researcher to conduct research on in situ optical spectroscopic investigation of crystallization.
