Tobias Golling is Full Professor and Director of the Department of Nuclear and Particle Physics (DPNC) in the Physics Section at the University of Geneva. He is a specialist in experimental particle physics, with major involvement in the ATLAS experiment at CERN.

He earned a PhD in physics from the University of Bonn in 2005, after completing a physics degree at the University of Heidelberg in 2001. His postdoctoral career took place at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (2005–2009), before he joined Yale University as Assistant Professor, and later Associate Professor in 2014. That same year, he joined the University of Geneva.

Within the ATLAS collaboration, Professor Golling has held several leadership positions, including coordinator of the fast simulation chain (since 2020), head of inner detector alignment (2017–2018), as well as various coordination roles in the Exotics, Top-Exotics, data quality, and tracking software groups between 2008 and 2015.

His work has been recognized with several honors, including an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship (2012–2014), the title of Cottrell Scholar Fellow (2013–2016), a Feodor Lynen Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (2005–2007), the PhD Award from the Bonn Physics and Astronomy Foundation (2006), and a Heinrich Hertz Fellowship for a research stay at Fermilab (2004).
