Zone Sciences

The migration of the Sciences zone will take place from 23 February 2026 to 13 March 2026. This zone includes several UNIGE buildings and sites, details of which are given below, along with the planned migration weeks:

  • Sciences I and Sciences II: from 23 February to 27 February 2026
  • Sciences III, Isotopes, Ansermet, Reactor, Former School of Medicine (Ancienne Ecole de Médecine): 2 to 6 March 2026
  • Physics and Maraîchers: 9 to 13 March 2026

 

Note: depending on the progress of the technicians' work in the field, these dates are subject to slight adjustments.

Migration process for the Sciences zone

From mid-December 2025: information phase

During this preliminary phase, users of the Science Zone will be informed of the issues and key dates for the effective migration of their telephony to Zoom. Staff will also be informed about the use of the upcoming telephony equipment so that they can decide whether to opt for a headset or a landline telephone. Support documentation will be posted online prior to the migration so that users can familiarise themselves with Zoom telephony.

From 13 January to 23 January 2026: selection phase

From 13 January to 23 January 2026 , users choose between a headset and a landline for their personal line. A form is sent by email to all employees at the site. Those who wish to keep a landline indicate this by responding to the form; those who do not respond will automatically receive a free headset.

 

End of January to end of February 2026: needs analysis phase

From 30 January to 27 February 2026, expert engineers will count the number of landline telephones and headsets required and prepare for the actual migration.
 

From 23 February to 13 March 2026: effective migration phase

From 23 February to 13 March 2026: the telephone icon will be added to the Zoom workplace platform for staff without the need for any updates by users. A team of engineers and electricians will make the telephone changes and connections on a workstation-by-workstation basis.

From 23 February 2026: support phase

From 23 February to 25 March 2026, a support hotline will be available to respond to user requests. Expert engineers will make any necessary adjustments and evaluate the migration.
