Yonsei Geneva Center Opening

0

On Tuesday October 15, UNIGE has the honor of welcoming the President of Yonsei University (South Korea). He is visiting on the occasion of the opening of the « Yonsei Geneva Center », a liaison office of this prestigious Korean university within the UNIGE Global Studies Institute.

UNIGE and Yonsei have been partners since 2007, and students regularly exchange between both institutions. UNIGE students from fields as diverse as International Relations, Business or Asian and Korean Studies have spent a semester or year at Yonsei.

The UNIGE-Yonsei partnership has taken on new dimensions since the visit of Rector Jean-Dominique Vassalli to Yonsei, in the framework of an official visit with Federal Councillor Johann Schneider-Ammann. To further promote student exchange, identify synergies in teaching and research and give Yonsei a home base in Geneva, Yonsei and UNIGE are glad to announce the creation of the Yonsei Geneva Center. In a first phase, this office will be hosted at the UNIGE Global Studies Institute.

In the same context, the opening of a UNIGE-Yonsei Center is under discussion. This office is planned to be on Yonsei’s Songdo International Campus. It will allow to reinforce links in Korean Studies, where UNIGE plays a pioneering role in Switzerland, but also in areas such as Environmental Sciences: Songdo is the host city for the UN’s Green Climate Fund, which Geneva had also applied to host.
