Un nouveau MOOC sur la communication humanitaire
Le Centre d’enseignement et de recherche en action humanitaire (CERAH), une structure conjointe de l’Université de Genève et de l’Institut de hautes études internationales et du développement, lance, dès le 18 mai, son premier MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) avec le concours de l’UNIGE.
Ce cours de cinq semaines sera consacré à «La communication humanitaire: relever les défis». Il s’adresse à toute personne impliquée dans l’action humanitaire désireuse de perfectionner sa communication au quotidien: professionnels de l’humanitaire, mais aussi journalistes, volontaires ou personnes affectées par une crise et participant à la réponse humanitaire. Au terme de ce cours, les participants seront outillés pour expliquer et répondre aux défis liés à la communication en contexte humanitaire.
La formation comprend une vingtaine de sessions vidéo menées par des enseignants du CERAH ou des experts invités. Durant les deux dernières semaines du cours, les participants travailleront sur une étude de cas basée sur une récente crise humanitaire, ce qui leur donnera l’occasion de mettre en pratique les connaissances acquises durant les premières semaines de cours. Les participants devront consacrer environ 20 heures d’étude afin d’obtenir un «Statement of Accomplishment» au terme du cours.

MOOC on Humanitarian Communication, Addressing Key Challenges
The Centre for Education and Research in Humanitarian Action (CERAH), a joint centre of the University of Geneva and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) is launching its first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) as part of its humanitarian distance learning programme (HDL). It is produced with the support of the University of Geneva.
The five weeks course entitled ”Humanitarian communication, addressing key challenges” is dedicated to all those involved in humanitarian action who are eager to be more efficient in their daily communication. It can be of interest for professionals, journalists, volunteers or persons affected by a crisis and taking part in the humanitarian response. At the end of the course, participants will be better prepared to explain the specificities and challenges of communication in humanitarian settings and the way to address them.
This distance learning course combines around twenty video sessions, including lectures from CERAH teachers and expert guest speakers. During the last two weeks, participants will work on a case study based on a recent humanitarian crisis. This assignment will help participants to put into practice the knowledge acquired and to adapt it to a specific context. Students will need to dedicate approximately twenty hours of study and will obtain a “Statement of Accomplishment” at the end of the course.
