With this programme, students will study how French is used, how it interacts with other languages and how it is learnt. It covers areas such as linguistics, sociolinguistics, literature, culture and didactics. Students learn how to critically analyse the language, and its varieties and descriptions. They also look at intercultural phenomena and multilingualism, covering linguistic policies and ideologies, and literature in the French-speaking world. In addition, they study issues relating to teaching and learning French as a foreign language.

Except for disciplines involving modern languages (Spanish, Italian, English and German), where courses are offered in the relevant language.
