Musicology comprises a number of fields characterised by a range of approaches and specific aims, including the history of music, musical theories and notations, aesthetics, sociology, musical analysis and epistemology, source-related philology and how it is applied in the production process, comparative studies, acoustics, organology (the history and craftsmanship of musical instruments), and the use of IT in music.
Students will acquire basic historical and technical knowledge as well as research methods, and develop their critical thinking. Several partners are involved in teaching exchanges for the programme, in some of the core subjects and in providing internships.
1.5 years (3 semesters)
Except for disciplines involving modern languages (Spanish, Italian, English and German), where courses are offered in the relevant language.
