January - July 2016 Internship at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville (UTK), TN, USA

Project: "Roseobacter : Role on iron uptake and lability through siderophore’s production in the subsurface ocean"

  • Culture of a Roseobacter: Ruegeria pomeroyi DSS3 mutant library, siderophore's extraction and characterization from those mutants.
  • Monitoring of targeted metal uptake genes expression of DSS3 during a co-culture with the diatom Asterionellopsis glacialis
April - September 2015
Internship at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), IL, USA.

Project: "Effects of tillage and cover crops on weed suppression, soil microbial communities and nitrogen availability"

  • Field and lab work on soils with different cover crop treatments in order to assess the change in soil microbial communities and the effect on weed suppression.
  • Management of a small team of students for soil samplings, bioassays on seeds, DNA extraction and data analysis.
April - June 2012
Internship at the "Institut de Recerca I Tecnologia Agroalimentàries" (IRTA), Spain.

Project: “Determination of the dinoflagellate Karlodinium spp toxicity using a cell bioassay on 2 different strains (N2a and MCF-7)”

  • Work with a PhD student developing a new identification method to detect toxic microalgae, based on the cancerous cells’ reaction to the different kinds of toxins
Summer 2012 to 2014 Scuba diving instructor in a scuba diving club in Argelès/mer, France
