This research project focuses on the megalithic societies of the Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age in the Levant, particularly in the Irbid region of northern Jordan. It was within this framework that a training excavation was organised. The first archaeological excavation campaign took place between 24 August 2024 and 21 September 2024, with several students from the University of Geneva taking part in this project at the Rjile necropolis in the village of Kufr Yuba.
The aim of this project is to record and analyse the various architectural features of the megaliths, as well as to determine a chronology for the construction of the dolmens and their evolution over time. It was within this framework that the archaeological excavations took place.
