Baruffa Chloé

Chloé Baruffa is a Ph.D. researcher at the University of Geneva (Institute for Environmental Sciences) working on the politics  climate change adaption in mountain regions.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in political sciences from McGill Universtiy in Canada (First Class Honours) and completed her Masters in sustainable territorial development in three European universities (Erasmus Mundus Program at the Università degli Studi di Padova, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne).

Aside from her studies, Chloé has been involved in the preparation of the 2020 French presidency of the European Strategy for the Alpine Region and the management of the French National Mountain Council.

Research interests

Chloé Baruffa’s research focuses on the politics of climate change adaptation in the Swiss Alps. The goal of her research is to analyse the ways in which governments, NGOs, scientists, and energy compagnies promote, implement, research, and contest different responses to glacier retreat. Her work focuses on actors' discourses and imaginaries surrounding the formation of new glacial lakes and post-glacial territories as a result of glacier retreat.
