On Friday, 6 March, the Uni Mail Hall hosted the GSEM–GSI Career Forum, a full day dedicated to exploring career opportunities in economics, management, and international relations.

Organised by the University of Geneva’s Career Centre, the event was designed for students and recent graduates of the Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM) and the Global Studies Institute (GSI). Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to engage with more than 90 professionals at the various stands.

The programme was structured around ten presentations illustrating the diversity of the companies present. The financial sector was represented by Pictet, which presented the breadth of its activities and career opportunities within an international banking group based in Geneva, and by BNP Paribas, which introduced its career prospects in wealth management and investment banking. The Swiss Association of Independent Wealth Managers also took part, highlighting the specificities of the independent asset management sector.

Students were additionally able to discover the field of strategy consulting through a presentation by McKinsey Switzerland, while Albedis provided insights into current recruitment practices in the tertiary sector.

Public-sector actors from Geneva were represented by the Hospice général, as well as the Services Industriels de Genève (SIG), which introduced their missions and the variety of essential professions contributing to the functioning of the canton.

International careers were also highlighted: cinfo presented an overview of opportunities in international cooperation, and UNICEF introduced its activities in the field of digital inclusion. Finally, the GSI Doctoral School presented the opportunities offered by the PhD in Global Studies.

Ahead of the event, two Forum Ready workshops — one in French and one in English — supported participants in preparing their pitch and strengthening their networking strategies.

This first edition of the GSEM–GSI Career Forum offered students a comprehensive overview of the various career paths available, while fostering direct exchanges with a broad range of professionals.
