The Margins of Corruption - SNSF Advanced Grant
Principal Investigator: Professor Emanuela Ceva
Funded by the SNSF
The research project “The Margins of Corruption” (funded by an Advanced Grant of the Swiss National Science Foundation) aims to analyse whether the conceptualization of corruption as a deficit of office accountability (presented in Political Corruption: The Internal Enemy of Public Institutions) can make sense of corruption when we move from its core (within democratic public institutions) to its margins. The project explores corruption at the margins of democracies by looking at the forms this institutional dysfunction takes in hybrid regimes. It also studies corruption at the margins of the public sector by looking at the dysfunctions of non-profit organizations and business corporations. A reappraisal of the idea of corruption ensues with the method of conceptual engineering.
