Novel cardioprotective approaches in ischemic heart disease: chances and challenges for successful translation

Professor Gemma Vilahur, Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau Research Institute, Barcelona, Spain, will be visiting us on Friday 17 May 2024 in the CMU.

Gemma Vilahur is a group leader at the Research Institute Hospital de la Santa Creu I Sant Pau, Barcelona, Spain. She has solid experience in translational research with a special focus on ischemic heart disease, from atherosclerosis and its cardiovascular risk factors to myocardial infarction and adverse remodelling. In her talk, she will provide the background on where cardioprotection stands in 2024, discuss the hurdles that need to be overcome to translate cardioprotection into patient benefit and show novel promising data to protect the ischemic heart and reduce the burden of heart failure.
