After studying medicine at the University of Geneva, Dagmar Haller completed her FMH training in general medicine in Lausanne, Neuchâtel, and Geneva. Keen to participate in the development of research in primary care medicine, she trained at the University of Melbourne (2003 to 2006), where she obtained a PhD in 2006 (clinical research doctorate). She also holds a DIU in adolescent medicine (Universities of Poitiers, Tour, and Paris VI, 2002). After practicing for several years at the Youth Health Unit of the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG), she set up a group practice in 2020 as part of a team developing a pilot project for a multi-professional health center.

She joined the IuMFE in 2009 and created the research team which she led for almost fifteen years before becoming director of the IuMFE in July 2023.
