The ESPON territorial research conference, taking place on Wednesday 4 June 2025, aims to find new ideas, evidence and research avenues that have not yet been addressed within the ESPON 2030 Programme

and that could support policymakers at all levels across Europe with science-based evidence on territorial development and cohesion. This could relate to megatrends and research challenges, gaps in territorial research, data or policy, or science communication and visualisation.

The new innovative ideas, evidence and research avenues we are looking for, should be linked to one of the ESPON thematic action plans (TAPs):

3. Governance of New Geographies

4. Places Resilient to Crises

5. Perspectives for All People and Places

6. Living, Working and Travelling Across Borders

7. Smart Connectivity

8. European Territories in Global Interactions
