THE MASTER IN BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES
aims to prepare students with a Bachelor's in biomedical science for a career in the health-care industry, and more specifically in the area of drug and medical-device development. It also paves the way for a career in the biotech or food industry, or in genetics and cutting-edge genome technology. Students may continue their training with a PhD.
The first-year programme comprises both theoretical and practical classes taught by academics and industry experts. Students get an overview of the biomedical industry and acquire the skills they need to work in multidisciplinary teams. Science courses are supplemented by topics such as corporate strategy, ethics, pharmaceuticals law and science communication.
During the second year, students must complete two internships, either in Switzerland or further afield. One of the internships must involve research work in a university, medical or company laboratory. The other internship must be conducted in industry.
