Emeline Bolmont earned a PhD in astrophysics from the University of Bordeaux in 2013. After four years of postdoctoral experience at the University of Namur (Belgium) and the CEA in Saclay (France), Professor Bolmont joined the University of Geneva in 2018 as an Assistant Professor with conditional tenure (PA).

A specialist in the habitability of exoplanets, she conducts simulations of the orbital and rotational dynamical evolution of planets and their atmospheres. Her main focus is the study of planetary systems orbiting low-mass stars — systems that host potentially habitable planets and exhibit unique dynamical evolution, particularly influenced by tidal effects.

At the University of Geneva, she heads the Center for Life in the Universe, which aims to lead interdisciplinary projects addressing fundamental questions such as: Are we alone in the universe? and How did life emerge on Earth? One of the projects that currently excites Emeline explores how terrestrial life could survive under conditions that may have existed on Mars in the past.
