After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Rome and a Master’s degree from the University of Copenhagen, Joanito Liberti became interested in the phenotypic and molecular adaptation of certain social insects. This work, related to evolution, was the focus of his doctoral thesis, presented at the University of Copenhagen. Dr. Liberti later joined the Department of Fundamental Microbiology at the University of Lausanne as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow. There, using animal models including ants and bees, he seeks to understand how natural selection shapes social interactions, whether they are beneficial or conflict-generating. He is the author of numerous high-impact scientific publications, some of which are particularly original.
