Mélanie Habouzit earned her Doctorate in Science from Pierre and Marie Curie University, Paris VI (now Sorbonne University), in 2016. Following her thesis, she was appointed as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Computational Astrophysics (CCA) in New York, and later at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) in Heidelberg, Germany.

A specialist in computational astrophysics, she is internationally renowned for her research on the formation and evolution scenarios of supermassive black holes. Her work has highlighted the critical role of these black holes in understanding the evolution of galaxies. She is the author of highly acclaimed scientific publications and has delivered numerous keynote presentations at international conferences.

In 2023, Mélanie Habouzit was awarded a Starting Grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation. Following this achievement, she was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Astronomy at the Faculty of Science, University of Geneva, starting September 1, 2024. There, she will conduct cutting-edge research in her field.
