Lisa Myers is Senior Research Associate at the CIDE. Lisa coordinates the Certificate in Advanced Studies on Juvenile Justice: the first entirely online and Spanish course of Geneva University.

Lisa was previously the Director of Child Rights Connect, an international network of NGOs which influenced the drafting of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and its Optional Protocols. At Child Rights Connect, Lisa advocated for child rights through the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, the Human Rights Council, and the wider international system. She participated in the drafting of international legal and non-legal texts including the Third Optional Protocol to the CRC, General Comments and the Committee’s guidance on child participation. Lisa also trained NGOs and children from many countries to engage with UN bodies.

Lisa has worked on children, youth and human rights issues at the International Labour Organisation and NGOs including the Association for the Prevention of Torture and Casa Alianza Guatemala. She has worked directly with refugee/asylum-seeking children in Switzerland, children living on the street in Guatemala and school children in China. 

Publications include: multiples guides on reporting on the CRC  and its Optional Protocols, such as ‘the Reporting Cycle of the Committee on the Rights of the Child: a guide for NGOs and NHRIs’; ‘My Pocket guide to CRC reporting’; UNICEF’s resource kit for country offices and national committees; as well as reports, papers and bridging documents on migrant children, child labour and the environment, birth registration, human rights and non-communicable diseases.

Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Sussex University) and a Masters in Development Studies (Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies).
