The doctorate, and afterwards?

You can find a page dedicated to this question here.

A few platforms if you are looking for a postdoc position :

A frequently mentioned option for obtaining funding for a postdoc is the SNSF's Postdoc.Mobility programme.

Did you know that 98% of doctoral students and 95% of post-doctoral students do not pursue an academic career?

A number of resources are available to help you make this transition and strengthen your cross-disciplinary skills:

  • Career Centre workshops: sessions to help you integrate into the professional world.
  • Pôle SEA workshops: courses to develop essential skills such as oral and written communication.
  • CUSO: programmes and workshops to strengthen your communication, time management and professional development skills.
  • UNIL online resources: practical tools and advice to help you make informed decisions and prepare effectively for your professional future.

The Graduate Campus is working to strengthen this offer with the other UNIGE departments concerned; this service is available to discuss informally your transition after your thesis or postdoc.

Also, with 9,000 members in 90 countries, the Alumni Network is an excellent way of keeping in touch with the UNIGE and benefiting from its network.

The Graduate Campus would like to inform you that a CAREER SUPPORT will be held every Friday in June (June 6, 13, 20 and 27), from 10am to 12pm at Vie de Campus (Uni Dufour, 1st floor). They are intended for all UNIGE students, PhD students and postdocs at the end of their curriculum who are actively seeking employment. At these drop-in sessions, a counsellor will give you brief personalized feedback on your application (CV, covering letter) or advice on the process of professional integration. Don't miss this opportunity!

Are you a doctoral student at the UNIGE and would like to think about your professional future outside the academic world? The Career mentorship program puts you in touch, for seven months, with a professional graduate of the University who is active in a field that interests you.

Through individual interviews, group meetings and a number of workshops, you will benefit from personalised support to help you better understand the realities in the field, expand your network and develop your skills.

(REGISTRATION UNTIL JUNE 30)
