Dr Michaela MacDonald is a Teaching Fellow at CCLS and Lecturer at EECS (the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science), where she is works on the Joint Programme between Queen Mary and the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Her teaching covers subjects such as Interactive Entertainment Law, AI, Robotics and the Law, Cybersecurity Law and Product Development, across the undergraduate, LLM and distance learning programmes. She holds a PhD in Law from CCLS, Queen Mary University.
Michaela’s main research interests focus on the legal, regulatory and societal effects of disruptive technologies. She has been involved in projects examining the legal and regulatory implications of cloud computing (The Cloud Project, CCLS), investigating the legality of smart contracts in the Lloyd’s insurance market and most recently, computational creativity in video games (CCLS).
Michaela is also working at Moorcrofts LLP as a consultant, collaborating on projects that have focused on the legality of data and text mining activities, Open Source licenses classification and contract automation.
