Swiss Network for International Studies (SNIS) promotes academic research on phenomena that transcend traditional nation-state boundaries. The SNIS strongly encourages pluri-disciplinary research and fosters collaboration between Swiss organisations of higher education, International Organizations and NGOs.

The ESPON 2013 Programme , the European Observation Network for Territorial Development and Cohesion, was adopted by the European Commission on 7 November 2007.

CONCERTO is a European Commission initiative within the European Research Framework Programme (FP6 and FP7) which aims to demonstrate that the optimisation of the building sector of whole communities is more efficient and cheaper than optimisation of each building individually.

The Interdisciplinary Research Programme ‘City and Environment’ (PIRVE) positions itself in the global context of massive urbanisation and concern for ecological issues (depletion of key resources, climate change, declining biodiversity…). Within this general framework, the “city and environment” field fosters major collective stakes concerned the quality of life of citizens (residents, workers, visitors), the vulnerability of urban societies and spaces, the functioning and evolution (growth, sprawl…) of cities at the large metropolitan and urban-region scales, and their regional and global impacts.
