Uni Carl Vogt - Room 001, 18:30 - 20:00

This event is co-organized by the University of Geneva, the Interim Secretariat of the Minamata Convention on Mercury, and the Geneva Environment Network Secretariat. The success of the Mercury Convention is partly thanks to the effective collaboration between the science and the policy-makers on transmitting the message about the adverse impacts of mercury on the environment and human health. The role of science and policy continuous communication in further successful implementation of the targets of the Minamata Convention is significant.

Organized within Hg week in Geneva during the First meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Minamata Convention on Mercury (COP1), this event will provide the opportunity of the participants to explore how members of the scientific community may support the implementation of the Convention around the world, be it in the further development of knowledge and its dissemination, in the exchange of information, in the quest for mercury-free alternatives or in the evaluation of the Convention’s effectiveness.
