Cognition for education: A bridge close by?

Raisons éducatives is a francophone scientific journal published annually by the Section of Educational Sciences (SSED) of the University of Geneva. The 25th edition of the journal was coordinated by Professor Emmanuel Sander of the IDEA team and was entitled :

COGNITION FOR EDUCATION:
A BRIDGE CLOSE BY?

Objectives
John Bruer wrote the article "Education and the Brain: A Bridge Too Far" in the Educational Researcher in November 1997, in reference to Richard Attenborough's film of the same name about a failed alliance in World War II. In this seminal article, Bruer defends the idea that there is too great a distance between neuroscience and the classroom.

The objective of this edition of the journal and following workshop is to reexamine the relationship between the cognitive and educational sciences at a time in their history when these disciplines have reached a certain degree of maturity.
