Escape Game by Marta Pittavino

Dr. Marta Pittavino’s proposal selected following the GSEM's call for pedagogical innovation projects

Dr. Marta Pittavino’s proposal to create a fun and interactive environment where students can learn in teams was selected for the GSEM Pedagogical Innovation initiative, a program that reflects the GSEM’s commitment to developing new formats of teaching practices, improving teaching quality, and promoting innovative pedagogical methods.

Dr. Pittavino’s project uses new software to create “Escape Game” quizzes, which helps stimulate the student's understanding of theoretical tools and abstract topics such as statistics and mathematics while working in teams.

This “learning by playing” modality has three objectives: increasing student engagement; learning discipline-specific knowledge; and developing problem-solving, teamwork, creativity, and cross-curricular skills.

A series of statistical and mathematical virtual rooms will be created, with targeted questions on the course content. Students will only be able to exit the rooms if the correct combinations of answers are provided with a correct combination sequence. Learners will require a high level of attention and information, as well as a collaborative spirit to develop the correct solution to proceed and access all the rooms.

The project will be implemented in the Forecasting with Applications in Business (and Statistical Modelling) program of the Master in Business Analytics and the Bachelor in Economics and Management.
