We are pleased to announce that Alba Grassi has been awarded a 2023 Starting Grant from the SNSF for the project:Quantum Curves and Black Holes which is due to begin in January 2025 and conclude in December 2029.

Alba obtained her Bachelor's degree from EPFL in 2010, followed by a Master's degree from ETHZ in 2012 and a PhD from the University of Geneva in 2015. She then worked as a postdoctoral fellow at ICTP until 2017 before joining the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics as a Research Assistant Professor. In spring 2020, she spent a semester at ETHZ as a SNF PRIMA fellow. Since November 2020 Alba holds a joint faculty position between the Theory Department at CERN and the Section of Mathematics at the University of Geneva.

Alba is broadly interested in research topics at the interface between mathematics and theoretical physics. She works on topological string theory, formal aspects of (supersymmetric) quantum field theory, spectral theory, integrable systems, random matrix theory, resurgence theory, holography and quantum gravity.
