Francis is a visiting professor for the academic year 2023-2024. He is on sabbatical leave from the University of Oxford, where he has been professor of mathematics and a senior research fellow at All Souls College since 2015 after spending most of his career in the CNRS and at the IHES in Paris. His research interests cover various aspects of algebraic geometry and number theory, with applications to quantum field theory in mathematical physics.
