Microsurgical reconstruction of tissues represents an important and key medical discipline, which enable the restoration of function as well as aesthetic aspects of the individuals damaged by the traumatic injuries (i.e., nerve injuries, blood vessels, soft and hard tissues), cancer and congenital anomalies.  Furthermore, microsurgical procedures allow us to personalize the treatment for individuals with complex tissues and organ problems when the standard of care options are limited or absent.

Our group is interested in developing the multidisciplinary approaches where micro-surgical outcomes can be radically improved by combining with molecular, cellular and bioengineering approaches. Within this context, we are globally recognized in the field of the fat grafting and adipose tissue stem cells therapy for augmenting the tissue regeneration.

Research areas

  • Clinical repair and reconstruction of peripheral nerve injuries
  • Fat grafting strategies for breast reconstruction
  • Micro-surgical repair of onco-dermal lesions
  • Ortho-plastic surgery for limb reconstruction
