I am currently working on cross-modal influences of audio and visual stimuli during speech processing in order to better understand multi-sensory integration. I use cognitive electrophysiology (EEG, ECoG) to uncover the neurological mechanisms underlying perception of audiovisual speech.
I was trained as a neurobiologist and worked on memory encoding at the synaptic and cognitive level. For my thesis I investigated interactions between the hippocampus and the orbitofrontal cortex occurring during the perception of "reality" (i.e. the present moment) in healthy population and a population diagnosed with schizophrenic disorders.
