ERC Proof of Concept grant for Alan Carleton
Alan Carleton, full professor in the Department of Basic Neurosciences and member of the Synapsy Centre for Mental Health Neuroscience, and Christoph Scheiermann, full professor in the Department of Pathology and Immunology and member of the Geneva Centre for Inflammation Research, have each been awarded an ERC Proof of Concept grant, a European Research Council scheme open to researchers who already hold ERC funding, to explore the practical potential of their discoveries. Proof of Concept grants are designed to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and real-world application, through a patent, a prototype, or evidence of clinical feasibility.

Camilla Bellone named “Cavaliere” of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic
Camilla Bellone, Full Professor in the Department of Basic Neurosciences and Vice-Dean for Basic Research and Technologies at the UNIGE Faculty of Medicine, has been awarded the title of Cavaliere of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, Italy's highest civilian honour. A neuroscientist, Camilla Bellone specialises in social behaviours in autism spectrum disorders.

Towards deep brain stimulation without surgery
A study by UNIGE, in collaboration with ETH Zurich, has significantly improved the accuracy of a non-invasive brain stimulation technique, paving the way for its use in the treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders.
