Haruka Kusakabe is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Astronomy of the University of Geneva working on galaxy evolution and reionization with Prof. Anne Verhamme. She was a JSPS research fellow for young Young Scientists (DC1) from 2016 to 2019 and obtained her PhD form the University of Tokyo (Japan) in March 2019. She started her first postdoctoral position in April 2019. From September 2019, she is a recipient of a postdoctoral fellowship (Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship) from the FCS.

Her research goals are to understand how galaxies evolve and reionize gas in the inter galactic medium in the past Universe. Her Ph.D. projects were devoted to study the nature of young galaxies in the past Universe and to probe of cosmic reionization using with multi-wavelength observational data of Lyα emitters (mainly with Subaru/SC, VLT/MUSE, and ALMA).

Currently, she is mainly working on the evolution of Lyα emitter fraction at z=3 to 6 using MUSE data and galaxy formation models in collaboration with MUSE GTO.
