Floriane Leclercq is a postdoctoral researcher in extragalactic astrophysics at the University of Geneva working within the team of Prof. Anne Verhamme. She obtained her PhD in November 2017 from the University of Lyon in France (advisor Roland Bacon). Using observations with large telescope she investigates the relation between the galaxies and their close gaseous environment in order to better understand the mechanisms that influence and regulate their formation and evolution across the cosmic time. The major part of her research makes use of MUSE data to detect and analyze the cold gas surrounding high-redshift galaxies through the study of Lyman-alpha haloes. This project aims to better characterize and understand the circum-galactic medium of normal star-forming galaxies which represent the bulk of the galaxy population.
