At the Faculty of Science's 2025 graduation ceremony, held on Friday 5 December at the Geneva International Conference Centre, the award for the ‘most inspiring’ professor was presented to Professor Claude Piguet from the Department of Analytical and Mineral Chemistry. This award, presented by the Faculty of Science Student Association, recognises the teacher who has had the greatest impact on students' academic and professional careers.
For the 2025 edition, students were asked:
‘Which professor has been the most inspiring for my studies and career?’
This distinction highlights Professor Piguet's constant commitment and passion for teaching. It highlights his desire to pass on knowledge that opens up new perspectives for future generations.
The School of chemistry and biochemistry extends its warmest congratulations to Professor Piguet for this recognition, which testifies to the lasting impact that quality teaching can have on students.

In 2024, the Department of analytical and inorganic chemistry was also honoured at the Teaching Awards.
Last year, at the 2024 graduation ceremony, Professor Ross Milton, also from the Department of Analytical and Mineral Chemistry, was honoured by the Student Association. The year 2024 marked the very first edition of the Teaching Awards, created and managed independently by the Faculty of Science Student Association. Five categories were taken into account in awarding this prize to Professor Milton.
These successive distinctions highlight the personal commitment of teachers to the quality of their courses and illustrate the importance that the Chemistry and Biochemistry Section attaches to offering demanding, formative and successful teaching that leads to professional fulfilment for its students.
