During Geneva Sustainability Week 2024, FAO in Geneva, in collaboration with the World Food Forum, will host a talk with a representative from Roasters United, who will guide the audience through the journey of coffee from bean to cup. They will discuss the opportunities and challenges of the coffee industry, such as income distribution and the impacts of climate change, as well as on good practices such as working with smallholder farmer cooperatives and sourcing sustainably. A representative of FAO will also elaborate on the significant role of coffee in the agrifood systems with an example of FAO’s work in the field. This talk will be followed by a coffee tasting exercise with the participants to discover the quality of different coffee types with the aim to promote better decision making on consumption choices.
