SUMMARY (Ridvan Askin, edited Deborah Madsen)

This address aims to contribute to a better understanding of Benjamin Franklin's veganism, which he came to by way of Thomas Tryon's The Way to Health, Long Life and Happiness. Franklin was primarily attracted to veganism because it proved economical both in terms of capital and time (72). The text provides several examples from Franklin's life that confirm these points, attributing Franklin's many achievements in large parts to his veganism.
