The "Advertisement" that opens Volume I (January 1835) describes the project of the new journal as follows: "It will be our purpose to show, to a greater extent than before the causes of vice and disease in the errors of the family, the school, the factory, the counting room,—indeed in all the varied employments and modes of life. We purpose also to develope [sic], as far as we may be able, not only the multiplied evils connected with eating and drinking improper substances and improper quantities of wholesome substances, but also those connected with quackery, dosing, exercise, dress, and improper mental and moral habits" (n.pag.).

A compilation of articles from volumes of the Library of Health, the Moral Reformer, and the Teacher of Health was published as a book, entitled The Library of Health, and Teacher on the Human Constitution (Boston: Published for the Author, 1849): https://archive.org/details/libraryofheal00alco
