Getting Comfortable with the Uncomfortable—Remediating Human Rights Violations 

Dorothée Baumann-Pauly, GSEM Professor and Director of the Geneva Center for Business and Human Rights highlights that companies often react to human rights violations by cutting ties with suppliers instead of engaging in remediation, which can worsen conditions for affected workers. It argues that effective remediation requires long-term engagement, collaboration with local stakeholders, and clear internal support for addressing root causes.
