COVID-19 and contemporary racial justice movements have created a monumental shift in the environment within which international aid operates. These dynamics overlay an already shifting aid landscape, where a newer group of bilateral and multilateral donors are increasingly providing aid financing and jockeying with traditional Western donors for access and influence in “recipient” countries. This roundtable brings together experts from throughout Africa to reflect on if and how power relations between African governments and foreign aid donors have changed over the past five years? And, how might these relationships evolve in the future?
