Participatory Workshop “Epistemologies of Fieldwork: Encountering Religiosity in African Contexts"
Interdisciplinary participative workshop
The participatory workshop, aims at fostering collective reflection on how religiosity emerges in fieldwork across disciplines. Through collaborative and participatory formats, we will explore questions such as: How do we navigate interreligious settings as (non)religious researchers? How do religious discourses and practices intersect with our research, even when not directly related? In what ways does religiosity shape how our interlocutors present themselves and their worlds? How do our own (non)religious positionalities influence field relations and the construction of otherness?
To join the workshop and take this opportunity to reconnect and reflect on fieldwork practices before the academic year begins, please reflect on one or several example from your research practice in which religiosity plays a central role, either by shaping your research methods or by influencing your research questions and epistemological approach.
Registration by September 1st:
On-site participation only.
